We have recently caught up with one of the three founders, Chloe, to find out how the restaurants have been adapting to the pandemic and how Abacus has played a supporting role in their continued success.
Tell us about the backstory of Nosh and how you got started.
The inspiration for Nosh was sparked at a network event when all of us played Futsal together. It’s been an absolute amazing journey, setting up Nosh with my best friends, Kinwen and Raymond. For us, we wanted to bring together the passion for eating well and the influences of western fusion culture to create something truly special.
Combining the distinctive Chinese and New Zealand influences with high-quality ingredients, Nosh offers healthy nourish bowls that smell, taste and look amazing.
What can customers expect from Nosh?
At Nosh, we want our dishes to symbolise the ‘Flavours of your travels.’ With signature dishes such as our Tasmanian Salmon Bowl, Wagyu Bowl and vegetarian/vegan Tofu Bowls, we are proud to infuse the most delectable Asian flavours with a Western twist. Customers can expect a unique menu, specially handcrafted with the freshest and finest local Australian ingredients, with every single dish made daily in-house.
Due to our backgrounds in customer service, we strongly believe in providing a positive overall experience to anyone who walks through our doors. It’s all about good food, good vibes and good company at Nosh. Not only do we want to share our love for hearty, nourishing meals, but we also want to cultivate authentic and meaningful relationships that celebrate passion and purpose. We hope that after a meal at Nosh, our customers feel energised and ready to seize the day.
How has Abacus helped your business?
We have been using Abacus since we opened in 2017. It was first introduced by a great friend, Peter, who was in our Futsal team. We decided to go with Abacus as our POS provider because they had a great offering for a fair price point. When compared to other POS providers, we believe that it was an affordable product that was value-for-money.
With the user-friendly POS interface, our staff was able to take orders easily, resulting in lesser training time and helping them to be more productive overall. Our menu can also be modified with no hassle, allowing us the flexibility to update the menu with new dishes at any given time.
In addition to the above, the Kitchen Display System and online food ordering system has definitely helped in the growth of the business. The online ordering feature especially has made a massive difference in increasing profit margins, as customers have been able to view our menus online and place their orders from their mobile phone or laptop. Everything seamlessly integrates into our POS, which is perfect. While the ease of use for staff is an important element of a POS system, we have found that having accurate reporting has been critical as business owners.
From when we first began in 2017, we have found that the Abacus team has been nothing less than extremely supportive of us during our journey. They are always willing to help, going above and beyond what is asked of them. We truly appreciate Abacus and everything they have done for us.
